Heartfelt speech and deep listening are the basis of good conversation. Following a talk, a reading or an event, open and clear communication help us to explore, share and exchange our questions and understanding with others. Good discussion groups test the Shambhala teachings and their relevance to our everyday lives as we create a community of learners.

In this four-hour workshop, you will practice the skills of speaking, listening and leading small discussion groups. Mentored by teacher-leaders you will learn to describe the purpose of, set ground rules for, and lead a half-hour discussion group in a non-competitive format. Even if you don’t want to be a discussion group leader, you will upgrade your skills as discussion group participants. Advanced DGLs will have the option of working with challenging participants and difficult situations. Some materials will be sent out in advance and other materials will be provided at the training. Please pre-register so you receive the advance materials.

Prerequisite: Shambhala Center member leader, teacher, or educator.
