Fresh Start Monday Goes Hybrid

We are pleased to announce that starting June 6, the Fresh Start Monday’s format will change from virtual to hybrid and and return to the pre-pandemic former content and schedule. The teacher will be at the Minneapolis Shambhala Center with whomever else chooses to attend live.  Also, we will host a Zoom meeting with a good microphone and camera in the room hooked up to a television.

Lojong Slogan Cards as Contemplation

We will include a period of Shamatha Yoga at the beginning. Instead of contemplations from The Wisdom of No Escape, we will use the Lojong Slogan cards as the basis for contemplation and discussion.

The Lojong Slogans are a set of pithy instructions on developing Relative and Absolute Bodhichitta to further one’s progress practicing the Mahayana Path as a Bodhisattva or Awakened Being. Absolute Bodhichitta is recognizing and resting in the empty and luminous nature of mind and Relative Bodhichitta is relating to sentient beings with Compassion and Skillful Means.

Books for Reference

The slogans are listed and explained in Pema Chodron’s Start Where You Are and Chogyam Trungpa’s Taming The Mind. We are happy to order a copy of either book for anyone interested. The Center Library may also contain them. Please email [email protected] with your request.

We look forward to seeing you Mondays from 7:00 to 8:30 p.m. The program remains free.
