We offer a rich array of free public offerings and many require no prior meditation experience. All are welcome. If you would like meditation instruction, please request it.

Sunday Morning Sitting  – Small Group Practice

Sundays at the Center from 10:30 a.m. to Noon

Sundays at the Center (2024) from 10:00 a.m. to Noon

Sunday morning group sitting is a more traditional meditation period, where sitting practice alternates with walking meditation. We open and close with chants (in English). It is an opportunity for our community of meditators at all levels of experience to practice together.

People curious about or new to meditation are welcome to join us! Meditation instruction is available for newcomers, if desired. If you would like to meet with a Meditation Instructor, just ask our staff person in the entryway. There is no charge for meditation instruction.

Monday Evening Open Practice

Mondays from 7 p.m. -9 p.m.

Join us for open sitting practice and an engaging discussion over a cup of tea. This program is free and open to all levels of experience. Beginners are especially encouraged to attend.

In our practice of Shamatha, or Peaceful Abiding, we learn to sit with, appreciate, and observe the constant emergence of our thoughts, the full kaleidoscope of our shifting moods, the ebbs and tides of our emotions. Whatever happens to arise in the moment adds to the richness of our experience.  We learn to sit with our minds, with our lives – as we are.  With continued practice, we learn to be at home with ourselves; we learn to be at home in the world.

This program is free and open to all levels of experience. Beginners are especially encouraged to attend.

 

Introduction to Meditation

Alternating first Saturdays of every other month at the Center from 9:00 a.m. to Noon

We offer a free Introduction to Meditation class on the first Saturday of every other month.  Join us to learn about the basics of meditation.
